Tortola - how far are beaches from port

We're thinking of booking the Virgin Island Sailaway, snorkelling trip, for the morning which will get us back to the ship for 12.30. Our ship is due to sail at 6.00 pm and we thought it would be nice to go to a beach in the afternoon. Does anybody know how long the taxi ride is to Cane Garden Beach or Brewer's Bay and how easy is it getting back to the ship.

Any input most appreciated.

We just got back from Tortola on Monday. We took a cab ride to Cane Garden Beach and it took exactly 23 minutes! When you get off of the ship, there are safari buses all around just waiting to take you ! It cost us $6.00 per person each way. Ask for Santa!(really...that's his name)

Cane Garden was absolutley beautiful! The highlight of our week... Do not miss it!

SueO .... We've been on the Sailaway a couple of times and just LOVE it! There's a thread someplace on this board that you might like to read (scroll .........)

Gizmo,

We went in May and there are lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent for, I believe, $5 each. They also rent floating rafts for the water... $5 for the blow-up type and $10 for the kind that has a seat where you can lean back with a drink and float around.. It was great!

I really didn't need the chair or umbrella, even though we rented them. I only got out of the water once to get a pina colada! The water was absolutely beautiful!
