H3one6B Posted January 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2013 We will be on the Triumph in March and I have been frantically looking for the cheapest way to get to the port and it looks like we can rent a car at IAH and keep it for a week for $188. I believe there are a few hotels that offer free parking, any thoughts on this plan?
bridgenorthbrooks Posted January 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2013 This is my very first post so I hope that I'm doing it right. I was just wondering who you booked your car with. We have been looking at renting a car from IAH and keeping it for the week but the prices I found have been a lot higher. Thanks!

Baxter Posted January 21, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Is that with all fees? I just priced a compact and it was 150 for the week but there was another 90 dollars in taxes and fees.
Talex831 Posted January 21, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I get a great rate through Avis from my work, but the taxes and fees add $100 more to the total!
H3one6B Posted January 21, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Yes that was with fees, I guess it wasn't a full week he booked 6 days at 15.xx a day and fees were like $90 (more then what the rental was).
LasseKjus Posted January 21, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 21, 2013 That looks like a fantastic rate. I have another cheap way to/from port that I'd be interested in if anyone has experienced it. Houston Hobby Country Inn & Suites is offering a nights stay and transportation to and from the cruise port for $179 (prior to taxes). They offer a free shuttle to and from the airport. Combined with a nights stay, that makes it about $100 RT for transportation to the pier. Can't beat that, right? The only thing is that I was going to book the night at the hotel on points and our return flight is super late. I suppose I could book a day room at the hotel if needed. Thoughts? Does the deal apply with similar transfers to sister Galveston Country Inn & Suites airport and ship transfers also?
LasseKjus Posted January 21, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Does the deal apply with similar transfers to sister Galveston Country Inn & Suites airport and ship transfers also? You'd have to call them on that. They also offer free parking at this one, but I'd just go straight to the one in Galveston if you wanted parking. jmorgania Posted January 22, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Wish I had known about this option sooner. I looked into it and they are 100% sold out of the cruise package during the time for my upcoming trip.
