outoftowner Posted January 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I tried to search this but did not find anything. Does anyone know how much credit needs to be available per person for the sea pass accounts for a 7 day cruise?

I am not sure what you mean but if you mean that you need to supply Credit card information you can always opt for paying the account in cash.:D
The Big Booper Posted January 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I tried to search this but did not find anything. Does anyone know how much credit needs to be available per person for the sea pass accounts for a 7 day cruise? I assume you are asking how much credit must be available on the credit card you list on your boarding documents. Usually the cruiseline will put a hold on the card against future spending when you check in but I have never seen that amount referenced anywhere. Suggest you call Celebrity up. trabeler Posted January 21, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I don't know whether or not they actually check for the credit limit, however from monitoring approvals on my card, they seem to do pre-approvals in $140-200 increments. On my most recent sailing, for example, upon boarding, they did a pre-approval for $140. Then a few days later as my charges onboard reached this amount, they did another for $200. It continued like that until the end of the trip. There was only a single charge at the end of the trip for the entire seapass balance, however. biker1972 Posted January 21, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Most important, do not use a debit card at check in because of the holds and possible double billings that have sometimes happened. Much easier to deal with errors when a credit card is involved.
Alg63 Posted January 21, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2013 There is no way for a merchant to check a credit limit on a credit card, they can only try to get a pre auth, and post charges.there is nothing Wong with using a debit card, most times the card holder jst does not understand how debit cards work ith pre auth and credit hold, and don't understand that holds may take up to 7 days to "drop" if no charge is posted. cruising in mn Posted January 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2013 I tried to search this but did not find anything. Does anyone know how much credit needs to be available per person for the sea pass accounts for a 7 day cruise? OR.. you could go online prior to the cruise, and pre purchase yourself some OBC (on board credit) they'd probly still place a hold on your CC, but if you'll use up the OBC first before going to your CC. And you can buy it on your CC prior to sailing. :-)
