Visa for Aussies sailing into Vietnam?

Do we need to apply for visas in advance before sailing or can they be obtained on arrival when we go ashore in Ho Chi Minh? I have heard that on some cruise lines you can apply for the visas once onboard. I am sailing on Royal Caribbean out of Singapore and as yet haven't received a reply to my query from RCCL

Ahhh, the usual story of cruise lines' failure to advise on visas :(

Other cruise lines organise visas aboard, certainly for most nationalities incl Aussies, & charge the cruiser's on-board a/c. Somewhere around 35USD. This only covers arrival/departure by ship, but it is OK for all your Viet ports, & you can come & go unaccompanied - no need to be on a ship's tour.

Almost-certainly the same applies to RCI, but hopefully someone can confirm, either here or if you ask on the RCI board.

thanks p toasty. I still haven't heard back from RCI but I did think to ring a travel agent whe did say that the cruise line would arrange what they called 'blanket coverage' for all passengers. But now I know how, thanks again.
