Chelseapop Posted January 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Do we need to apply for visas in advance before sailing or can they be obtained on arrival when we go ashore in Ho Chi Minh? I have heard that on some cruise lines you can apply for the visas once onboard. I am sailing on Royal Caribbean out of Singapore and as yet haven't received a reply to my query from RCCL
Rare John Bull Posted January 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Ahhh, the usual story of cruise lines' failure to advise on visas :( Other cruise lines organise visas aboard, certainly for most nationalities incl Aussies, & charge the cruiser's on-board a/c. Somewhere around 35USD. This only covers arrival/departure by ship, but it is OK for all your Viet ports, & you can come & go unaccompanied - no need to be on a ship's tour. Almost-certainly the same applies to RCI, but hopefully someone can confirm, either here or if you ask on the RCI board. JB :)
Chelseapop Posted January 22, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Thanks John, I may try Royal Caribbean again just for confirmation. There is no rush for me, I'm not sailing to Feb 14 but I like to be in control.
p_toasty Posted January 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Hi Royal carribean sort out all the visas, they charge it to your ship board account. They take your passport at boarding and return it the last day of the cruise. Hope this helps :D
Chelseapop Posted January 22, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted January 22, 2013 thanks p toasty. I still haven't heard back from RCI but I did think to ring a travel agent whe did say that the cruise line would arrange what they called 'blanket coverage' for all passengers. But now I know how, thanks again.
3littlepigs Posted January 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2013 If you are staying off the ship overnight its a bit more expensive and you need to take passport sized photos or have them taken onboard, no hassle though, they will still process onboard.
