Ship's Time

Recommended Posts

Does the ship run on the same time as the port where it leaves from, or does it change when it crosses time zones?

It varies by itinerary and Captain. Some Captains keep the same time zone as the embarkation port, and some change when the ship enters a new time zone.

Every time I have sailed from Galveston ship time has stayed the same as the home port. I see that you are on Mariner in April. So a good guess is that it will not change to a different local time. If you are relying on your cell phone for time at port locations, be aware that if the local time is different your phone will pick up local time and NOT stay on ship time.

Based on your Mariner cruise date, you're in luck. Cozumel is in the same time zone as Galvestion, and will be on DST same as Galvestion, so it will be on the same time. Grand Cayman and Jamaica are both in the Eastern time zone but don't observe DST, so in mid-April they will also be on the same time as Galveston.
