How late are the stores open?

We will be in Philipsburg in April on a Tuesday. Our ship docks at noon and leaves at 9:00PM. We plan on heading straight to the beach and staying until around 5:00. Are the stores near the pier open past 5:00? Also, is there anything to do near the pier since the ship does not leave until 9:00PM? Thanks!
