Whats the difference between the fare viewer and doing a mock booking?

Also, there is a $12 difference between the two for my specific trip...

 

I maybe wrong but with fare viewer it shows you the "cruise rate" not the associated taxes/fee's etc. Also its faster to look up the cruise rate then doing a mock booking and shows the price for the specific category of cabin you may be looking at. Handy for checking on price reduction if you booked early saver rates because you have to show category and cruise rate to get a credit.
