Which Canada New England Cruise?

Looking into booking a Canada/New England cruise. Have never been, was wanting feedback of others experiences with the 5 day cruise (departs boston, ports in Halifax and St. Johns) and the 7 day cruise (departs Boston, ports in Portland, Halifax, St. Johns and Sydney). Is it worth the extra cost for the 2 extra ports, Portland and Sydney? We are planning on going in June. I know some who have cruised Canada/New England, but they did it in the fall for the colors. Was surprised to see a cruise offered in June, is this on "off season"? Thanks for any input!

We sailed both this past summer/fall on Glory. Never did I think I could sail anywhere but the Caribbean.

We sailed the 5 nights in July out of Boston and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! The ports are wonderful and the people of Canada are amazing and the nicest we have ever met, anywhere! There were a great bunch of fellow cruisers n this sailing as well. I would sail it again in a heartbeat! The weather was truly amazing! We came back more tan than if we had sailed to the islands.

We also sailed out of NY in September as we loved it so much in June we just had to go back. Portland was a nice day. Great food, nice people. But passengers were totally different on this sailing. Older crowd and very quiet at night, they shut the casino down early as well as the club as no one was awake I swear! The weather was much cooler and ports more crowded in September.

If I had my choice of going again I would pick the 5 nights out of Boston. Plus the port, easy on, easy off.

Are you looking at Glory??

Actually I just checked CCL after this and then reread this post. I was confused as last season she did not do 7 nights out of Boston. I would for sure say it is well worth it to go for the 7 nights!!! Can never get enough of Canada and in POrtland it is a must to eat at DiMillo's on the water, it's worth sailing to!!!!

Hello ... I live near Halifax, so any cruise that comes here will be great.... Atlantic Canadian hospitality is fantastic... you will love it here.

Secondly, it is St John (no 's') - the one with the s is St John's and that is the capital city of Newfoundland... you would not make it that far on a 7 day cruise.

That being said, Saint John New Brunswick is also a fantastic city. Lots of history, and great shopping in both cities.

Unfortunately I have not been in Sydney since I was a very small boy (and that wasn't yesterday) so I can't really comment about that part of Nova Scotia.

Regarding your question about coming in June.... come on along...

June temps can be well into the mid 20's (Celcius) (70-80 F)... July is our warmest month 25 - 27 C (up to low 30's) almost 90 F... it will be "cool" while you are out in the Atlantic, but warm/hot when you are in port.

I just wish the Carnival would allow us to board in Halifax, do the full itinerary, and come back to Halifax.... I would not drive to Boston from here, just to sail back to here... but if we could board mid cruise, then get off mid cruise and make Halifax a "half home port" they would get a lot more Canadians hooked on cruising.
