From Pier to Boardwalk to Rockley/Accra and back

Have been to Barbados a few times. Would like to go back to Rockley/Accra beach via the Boardwalk. Is it possible to walk from the cruise pier to get to the Boardwalk then walk to Rockley? Also we have no problem using the public buses here. I know we can probably walk to Rockley then take the public bus back to town from Rockley. But not sure where the bus would drop us off in town.

 

Has anyone done this? Any help would be most appreciated.

Between port and Rockley is about 2.5 - 3 miles.

 

The boardwalk only runs from the north end of Accra to about halfway to the Hilton.

 

Yes, it's possible to walk the entire distance (port to Rockley), but you might want to consider taking a bus or taxi part way...

 

The buses running south of Bridgetown will stop at Fairchild St. Terminal (blue gov't buses) or Nursery Dr. Terminal (yellow mini buses and white ZR's). From there, it's about a 15-20 minute walk back to the south port gates by the roundabout. There is a stop right at Rockley (which is just south of Accra).

 

Keep in mind that they drive on the left, so make sure you catch the bus going the right way. The bus stops will be signed either OUT OF TOWN or TO TOWN. Makes it really easy to figure out which way to B'Town.
