I Need Help!! Conquest Questions

Hi fellow Crusiers!!

I need help, I have never booked a Balcony room and always stayed in the bottom of the ship!!! Ha ha Well, my husband said he wont cruise again until he stays in a balcony room. So, I found a good rate(I think) but its one that Carnival picks, how bad is that going to be??

If I let them pick will it totally ruin our cruise?? Myself, I dont care...I'm not there to sit in my room on a tiny little chair, I want to be by the pool so this is really just for him. But on the other hand I dont want to listen to him complain the whole time either.

1) I guess my question is..... Is There Really Any BAD Balcony Rooms??

2) Also, have nevered cruised in February.....is this a good time? Hows the weather in Mexico at that time??

3) With no "Adult Area" on the Conquest, do you feel over run with kids around or did Carnival plan this out good??

4) If you buy a bottle from the Bon Voyage thing do you bring a rubermade bottle to have some with you at all times or do you still run back to your room and mix a drink when you need one? I'm thinking that a water bottle with my "goodie" in it will make things a lot easier for me......any thoughts on that?? Or tips??

Thanks for any input that any ones has, I have been on 3 cruises but I am no where near the expert that some of you are!!! Plus, we started at the bottom Holiday, Fantasy, Elation!!!! I'm ready for a BIG ship!!!:):)

You can't really get a bad balcony, if the price difference is pretty good I would do it.

When I order from BV, I always take a flask or two, but you can take whatever you want to carry around. Can help you on any other questions, I will be on the conquest in April

There can be some noise issues with some of the balcony cabins. We had a balcony guarantee on the Conquest and were assigned a cabin above the showroom. The noise drove us nuts. We heard their rehearsals, all the shopping talks, port talks, bingo games etc in our cabin. We learned our lesson - it wasn't worth the few bucks we saved to get a guarantee so after that we carefully select our cabin.

I vowed never to have a cabin that does not have cabins above and below, (except for Deck 12 spa cabins on the newer ships). So for us that rules out anything above the dining rooms, show room and promenade deck.

We prefer Empress deck on the Conquest.

Hi CMOTO, We were on the Conquest in December we were assigned Balcony cabin 6276 it was very noisy at night as it is situated next to a opening directly above the atrium near all the center elevators. This was our 42nd cruise and we had a good time but we would not reccommend this cabin.

The 2.0 enhancements are nice, I believe they added a Serenity area for adults but it is near the waterslide. The number of kids is usually a seasonal thing, and February is a great time to cruise Mexico.

Yes, there are definitely noisy balcony cabins on the Conquest. My first Carnival cruise was on the Conquest and I had a cabin right above the casino bandstand. The speakers were on the ceiling of the casino, which was the floor of my cabin. It sounded like the music was playing right inside the cabin, very loud, and it went on till the wee wee hours of the morning. If at all possible, pay a little more and don't get a guarantee cabin because you can get one of the noisy ones. I tried not to let it ruin my cruise, but I'm an 11:00 to bed person and couldn't get to sleep till the music stopped around 2:00 AM. Select a cabin that has other cabins above and below it.

we cruise a lot in February. The seas are hit and miss. Eastern is rougher than western, but both can be calm or choppy.

As for children, its low, usually really low. We now travel with kid in tow over the first week or two of Feb, but there won't be many. So don't sweat the fact there is not an adult only area.

I would say there aren't 'bad' balcony cabins but there are some that are less desirable than others. If you don't plan to be in the cabin much its not a huge deal. I've had some bad inside cabins before but I'd be so tired by the time I came back to the room, I could of been in the engine room and slept.

For booze, bring something to carry some around with you if you don't want to buy drinks on deck. A flask or empty water bottle will fit the bill if you want to have something on you 'at all times'...

Thanks everyone, you have given me "stuff" to think about!!

Was wondering, are all balcony's in shade like under the life boats or they in sun for some amount of time during the day?? can you see your neighbor??

I think (for me) being on a BIGGER ship is gonna make this lady soooo happy!!!

A balcony cabin on Deck 7, 9, 10, or 11. I would suggest looking into getting a Spa deck balcony cabin. The cabins on the Conquest will have a patio door, so no slamming door problem and it is open to the sky. There is a little less privacy in these cabins cuz people looking down from Serenity can see you on your balcony, but I find the patio door and the ability to see the whole sky at night is no big deal. That deck is also very, very, very quiet. The spa is not one of those places where it is rowdy.

A cabin on Lido or Panorama is also a good choice....*BG*

The Conquest also got the 2.0 upgrades in October and the ship has a Guy Burger, Blue Iguana cantina, Red Frog Rum Bar and Blue Iguana Tequila Bar on Lido....I went on the Liberty, which was the first ship to get the upgrades, and I can say that Guy Burgers are truly delicious and four months after the cruise I still have NOT eaten a hamburger ANYWHERE because no one can make a burger like Guy Burgers!

I have cruised on the Conquest once (2nd time in March) and her sister ship Liberty twice. I have cruised in February.

Pros about Feb. cruising-not a lot of kids, not so hot.

When we arrived in Cozumel, I wore a light jacket getting off the ship. within a few minutes, the sun was out and it was hot and i was peeling my layers off.

I always prefer to book my own cabin. However, one time I let CCL pick it and I was pleasantly surprised with my cabin. I was cruising also at an off peak time.

So who knows, maybe your gamble will pay off. If nothing else, bring a pair of ear plugs just in case. My dh snores horribly, so there's nothing that's going to bother me lol.

enjoy your first balcony. we love balconies. Dh & I love to spend time out there in the AM and PM. Some people don't spend time in their cabins but we do....especially on the balcony with a cocktail in hand! :D
