Best non-crowded, white sand beach

Which is the very best of the non-crowded white sand beaches to spend a day at on Barbados?

We are looking for something that is nice for lounging (with chairs and umbrellas for rent) and that has a nice sandy bottom for wading and swimming (not rocky or slimy). Also, we would like a place that has a few amenities at hand, such as a bar and facilities, but is not way too built up.

Can anyone recommend such a place?

How far would it be from the cruise ship terminal (cost by taxi?)?

Thanks!

I have been to the beach in Barbados befor but forgot name, lol. We are going in a couple of weeks and I did some reserch, this is what I came up with.

Seems like Carlisle Bay is very nice, chairs, food, restrooms, etc. They have a bar on a boat that you can swim to or they will pick u up from beach think it is called Captain Rendell's, sounds like fun.

Also, 4$ pp each way from cruise port.

Carlisle Bay is the longest and most popular beach on the west coast, so it can get crowded at times. But, it's also the best for amenities and has the nicest, soft powdery sand IMO. There is a lot of room to spread out, too.

If you want a quiet beach, then generally there's a tradeoff with amenities...

Check out this website: http://www.beachesofbarbados.com/ FYI, Brownes Beach is at the south end of Carlisle Bay.

Most of the west coast beaches have nice sandy bottoms - at least until you get out a little ways. Many of them are sand until the water is over your head. The west coast is generally calm with very little wave action.

The west coast beaches north of Bridgetown are generally less crowded and many of them offer amenities too. You might want to look at Paynes, Mullins or Brandons.

The south coast beaches have some wave action, but not so rough you can't swim. The south beaches, like Rockley, Worthing, Dover tend to not be as busy as Carlisle Bay.

The east coast is more rugged and scenic, less busy, but not really good for swimming.

Cheers, P:)
