hkolln Posted June 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2004 We are debating on going on a cruise out of San Juan on the Destiny next year sometime however we would need airfare from JAX Fl to there and find the airfare the cruiseline and/or online TA's charge is way high. What has anyone done for airfare? Can you book just the cruise and find airfare cheaper on your own? Or is that a problem? We're thinking of flying into San Juan a day or 2 prior to the sail date just in case there is a problem. What do you guys think? This is the 1st cruise we'll need airfare for...all others we've taken we could drive to. Thanks for any advice. Helen http://kollnfamily.com Countdown to Carnival Victory!!!! parody Posted June 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2004 These days, the majority of individuals who cruise make their own air arrangements. In doing so, one can easily book their own flights on the Internet or make arrangements through a TA. The price will likely be somewhat higher using a TA given the current arrangement for commissions. Under some circumstances, like an "open-jaw" flight, the air supplement charged by the cruise line might be attractive, so it is usually benefical to price out both options. A quick scan of airfares to San Juan from JAX is in the range of $500 per person. Many think this is high and that is but one of the reasons that many cruises depart from multiple ports in the US that are easily accessible by auto.
