Dreaming of the Dream March 9th

I have previously cruised with RCCL & NCL but it's been a while and I've never cruised with a child. I am booked on the Carnival Dream for March 9th to travel with my 10 year old son for spring break (hubby has to work) :mad: It will actually be a surprise for my 10 year old, I'm not telling him until we get to the airport.

 

Would welcome anyones thoughts on traveling with 10 year old alone, what to do, what to see, excursions to take and which ones to avoid.

Ports are Nassau, St. Thomas & St. Maarten.

Make sure to have a notarized Permission to Travel letter signed by your husband (or child's father if they are not the same), since he's not going on the trip.

Does your son like airplanes? If so, he should love Maho Beach on St. Maarten. What a nice surprise for him to be taken on a cruise!

In Nassau do Atlantis. They do offer day passes and I would contact the hotel for details. They also have dolphin encounters and snorkeling there.

I know a 10 year old would love that. In St. Thomas- I really liked taking the ferry to St. John's and snorkeling there. I think your son would like that a lot.

We did the Sea Blaster snorkeling excursion in St. Thomas(through RCCL). Kids under a certain age were free with adults. My kids(8 and 6) loved the speed of the boat and the adventure of the ocean life during snorkeling. They usually take u by the house of an avid pirate collector. Even a pirate ship parked in the ocean next to the house. According to my kids it was "way cool" and "def not lame". :)
