I am quite surprised that a balcony price on allure or oasis is

Not any more expensive than most other balconies on the other Royal Caribbean ships. It does appear that the injury price for an inside room is quite a bit higher. I would have to assume it's all about supply and demand. Not sure if it's been like this for the last few years or if this is something new. Looking at seven or eight day cruise Florida compared to many other ships balconies prices the same duration in the same places

Book the Oasis class. You will not regret it. We have sailed twice on the Oasis class and loved it. We stayed in an oceanview cabin with a larger balcony on the hump (D1). Fantastic. The boat usually docks with the starboard side facing towards the port. We chose starboard side for this reason and enjoyed people watching at the ports from our balcony.

Not sure what category balcony you are referring to, but the lowest advertised prices for a balcony on these ships is for the Boardwalk or Central Park facing balconies. So the balcony "starting price" is for one of those inward facing balconies. The balconies on the outside facing the sea are usually more expensive than other Royal Caribbean ships, such as Freedom of the Seas. At least that is the case when I have checked on prices in the past. Just be sure you are comparing the same type of balcony. Nothing wrong with the Boardwalk or Central Park balconies, but it is a different type of feeling.

Having said that -- the bigger ships are a worthwhile experience with lots to do, maybe worth paying a little more to sail on them.
