Getting to Galveston from Houston on your own....

We want to get to Galveston the day before our cruise leaves. Does anyone have any suggestions? How much would a one way taxi be for 3 people? What about a one way rental car? Which car rental places have drop offs in Galveston? I'd rent a car if necessary and keep it for the evening if I had to.

From other postings a cab can be very expensive. You can use
Galveston Limousine Service for a shuttle service they seem to have the best prices. As for rental cars Enterprise Car rental offers pick up at airport and drop off in Galveston. After your cruise Enterpise offer the same program back to the airport.
