How to find out if a band that we liked is on a ship ?

We were on a cruise on Vision in the begining of Dec, 2012.

There was a band called / named "Teddy's Band " - we enjoyed their music and often listened to their music / singing.

We are planing another cruise in the next few months and would enjoy that band again if they were on the same ship on our future cruise.

Is there a way to find out if a particular band is playing on a RCCL's ship in some distant time ( about 6 months to 10 months from now ) ?

Thank you.

I know that some of the bands are moved from ship to ship every so often. I do not know how their contracts work - how many months they are 'on' the ships and how many they are on shore.

I found some videos of theTeddy's band on youtube - seems that they have been on few ships in the Royal fleet.

Perhaps you can find your band someplace on the youtube as well.

You can try this email. I use it to get the entertainment line up but I don't typically ask for it until about 4 weeks before the cruise.

put "entertainment schedule" in the subject line and obviously include your sail date and ship info

web_reservations @ rccl.com

no spaces needed

Thank you,

I might try that ...... but I do not even know when I will be on a ship.

The band is not a major factor in my / our selection of the cruise ...... but it would be just a nice addition ...... we liked them and enjoyed their entertainment.

thanks,

I just found some of their recordings that someone posted on youtube.

As I mentioned, it is not a big deal but let say if I was going to book a cruise for Dec 1, 2013 and they were going to be on a ship a week or two later , I would change my booking if I knew ahead of a time.

Thanks JMG,

I do not have a booking number, ship or date yet.

I am looking to book something on one of the RCCL ships, and probably in Nov or Dec of 2013 time frame.

That is why I am looking for some way to find out if and when that particular band might be playing on one of the ships that I might be booking.

I do not know how the contracts work but I am guessing all of the employees or entertainment bands got some sort of a rotation ....... 6 months 'on' , or 9 months 'on' and then some time on shore.

I am guessing there is a department within the RCCL organization that does that scheduling and they know who, when and where is working.

If I find that contact person to ask about that band that would be great ...... if not I am sure I will enjoy the cruise that I will be on if that band is on the ship or not.

I just asked this question on this board because so many of the members know something or somebody that might have the right answer.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi,

I got some helpful answers from RCCL about the status of the band that I was interested in .

First I followed some of the suggestions above and wrote to web reservations ..... it took them a while to answer but they did .... unfortunetely they could not provide any dates or helpful information.

I wrote another mail to one of the executive guest specialists and got the helpful answer.

She provided me with a name of a person who works in the Entertainment and Guest Activities and that person gave me a projected schedule for the particular band up to the end of Sept.

So there is a way to find if ones favorite performer or a band might be on your cruise.

I can provide the name if someone needs it.

I could use the info if you don't mind. Send to my screen name above @ yahoo.com please. We were on the same cruise with you, did our first b2b Dec 3 and 14 and the music was very good and we also enjoyed this quartet. Danced for hours to their music over 3 weeks! There was a LOT of good music on this ship. The Philipino band did some REMARKABLE Eagles music!!

They reminded us of a band on Rhapsody when it sailed from Galveston. They were called Metroline and they would email me directly any time they were back on Rhapsody. Not a bad deal for RCL since we cruised with them 8 TIMES!

Hi a 68vet,

I remember your screen name from our Vision roll call. I think we exchanged few posts about hotels , price drops on one of the popular web sites and maybe other things.

I was looking for you during the M&M but no luck.

Perhaps I did see you during the Vetrans meeting.

Yes, we liked the music on Vision as well. We listned to the Teddy's Band a lot, whenever they were playing in the Centrum and few more times in the Enchanted Evening Lounge. We liked what they played and the way they played.

Acording the the information I got from RCCL, that band will be on RH cruising Alaska ( May - Sept.)

I was very happy with the Vision cruise - we had a great cruise.

The people from the Miami office were very helpful in finding the information for me. Looks to me that RCCL got a bunch of good people working for them both on land and the ships.

RCI and Celebrity ( Both under the RCCL umbralla) are my choice for cruising.

Your email with the name and address is on its way.

Many of the RCI ship board bands stay on the ship but the members change as their contracts expire.

We really enjoyed "Rosario Strings" on the Jewel several years ago. But a year later the band was still there but with different people.

It was not the same.

it happens, and not just on ships. There have been like 50 (or more) members of the Oak Ridge Boys over the course of time,
