Day in Miami - What to do on our own?

Hi, We'll be on the NCL Jewel in April, 2013. After 2 wonderful sea days, our first stop will be in Miami.

Does anyone have any suggestions what to do in Miami for a few hours? We do not want to rent a car or do any specific ''excursions''. :confused:

Any help will be appreciated.

You mention you do not want to do any excursions. Is that through Norwegian? You might also look at private tour operators, such as Gray Line Miami. We did a very affordable combination city tour/boat tour of Biscayne Bay that was just the right length for us. But for a tour-free option, I would take a cab to South Beach, walk around a bit, see Lincoln Road, have a drink on Ocean Drive and call it a day.

Agree with the suggestion of going to South Beach. People watch on Lincoln Avenue.

 

You could also do an excursion to the Everglades.

I did see the Hop On, Hop Off bus go through South Beach.

I'm going on the star to Miami in April, and I've decided to do the hop on hop off bus, as it includes shuttle from pier, and then you can do what you like, and the tour will get you to the main sights of Miami.
