Nghthawke Posted February 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2013 We will be sailing out of The Netherlands to visit the Norwegian Fjords. There is a movie coming out that we will definitely want to see and I was wondering if Hollywood movies for viewing in The Netherlands and Norway are available in English with subtitles or are they dubbed? Thank you. :)
Danish viking Posted February 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2013 I don´t know about Netherlands but in Norway they only use subtitles.
Mairnealach Posted February 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2013 I have been informed, by a friend who lives there, that foreign films and television programmes in the Netherlands use sub-titles.
Nghthawke Posted February 13, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted February 13, 2013 Thank you. Hubby and I are huge Star Trek fans. :D
kaisatsu Posted February 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2013 Remember also that international release dates are different, and a lot of Hollywood films open later in Europe than they do in the US. If you're referring to Star Trek Into Darkness: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1408101/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ov_inf It doesn't open until June 6 in the Netherlands. However, Norway apparently has the earliest release date listed! ;)
kaisatsu Posted February 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2013 PS - Closer to the date, if you want to check the showing times and locations for the day you'll be in Oslo, the cinema website is http://www.oslokino.no/ It's not one of the usual sights that I recommend in the city unless you're staying for a few days, but "Colosseum 1" is the largest cinema auditorium in Northern Europe and the largest THX cinema in the world, with around 1000 seats. I like to take out-of-town visitors when there's a big action film showing, because it's pretty impressive! Especially in rows 6-12 of the middle section, where the screen is impressively big but not too uncomfortable.
