so_excited_to_cruise Posted February 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2013 We are cruising on the Liberty in June. We have 4 ports. Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay, Grand Cayman. We have considered skipping a shore excursion in Belize or Grand Cayman so that we could splurge at 3 of the ports. Would you skip Belize or Grand Cayman? We cannot decide.
cruiseaholic78 Posted February 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2013 I would not take an excursion on Grand Cayman it's a place that is just nice to wander around on your own. In Belize I would take ship's excursion to Lamanai, at least I presume there is one, you start with a speed boat ride through the rain forest and then you can really see how the explorers discovered the Mayan pyramids because only a small part has been excavated. It was one of the highlights of our cruise and would really recomend it Rosalyn

Colorado Kat Posted February 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2013 Cozumel is very easy to do on your own. Grab a cab to the beach & just relax. I like Paradise Beach club. $2 for a chair. Pay for food & drinks. Pay is you choose to use water toys.
girlscruise2011 Posted February 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2013 I would skip Belize. Most excursions are a minimum of an hour way (some are two) and makes a very long day. Swimming with the Stingrays in Grand Caymans is the thing to do. Thats a once in a lifetime experience.
pleh Posted February 17, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2013 We have been to both places. In Grand Cayman I would just walk around while in Belize, just take a 5 minutes walk from the pier and you can get a public motorboat to Key Caulker, a beautiful island where you can stay on a tropical beach or just walk to discover the local food opportunities!! Jeanette123 Posted February 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2013 Hi, I have traveled to Belize and going through a tour company (Belize Exotic Adventures), they gave me a tour of everything I asked for. My family of eight did Altun Ha Ruins and Cave Tubing with them. They were save me a lot of money and are very informative. I am already planning my next visit to Belize. SteelerCruiser Posted February 24, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 24, 2013 if you do decide on doing nothing in Grand Cayman then you could at least catch a cab to 7 mile beach and enjoy some time there pretty cheap.

I wasnt to impressed with Caulker Cay. Possibly because we just went with no guide and ended up being somewhere else. I would still skip Belize unless I went on a Ship excursion. Grand Cayman from the pier walk in two blocks to the Information Booth get some bus info and travel down to seven mile beach or you do Sting Ray City. Cozumel, Paradise Beach has been okay with me.
