Best beech on St Vincent

We are looking to get a taxi driver to take us to a nice white sand beech on St Vincent not to far from the port.

Has anybody done this and is there anywhere they can recommend.

How far is it and how much does it cost.

Many thanks

Lou

The thing is, St. Vincent has many beaches, but generally it's not an island noteworthy for its extensive, gorgeous beaches. Most beaches are small, as they are in coves in the gaps between the mountains that come right down to the sea. You need to define what you want and expect in a beach. Do you want a real beachy place with loungers and umbrellas for shade, plus a nearby place to buy snacks and drinks where you might spend several hours? Or do you just want a place where you can lay out your towel on the sand, take it easy and swim a time or two, then call it a day? Think about what you want.

Then, if I were you, I'd get off the ship and find a taxi driver and describe what you are looking for. The Vincy taxi drivers are pretty straight-up, and will not take you miles out of the way to run up the fare. If you just want to get to a simple beach, swim a bit and maybe take a bit of sun, and then get back to the ship, you could go to Indian Bay, about a 20 minute drive. You could ask the driver for a drop off and later pick up (return fare) and that would probably be in the neighbourhood of $25 or $30 USD. However, it's not a particularly lovely beach. If you want a really nice white sand beach (and less-urbanized and busy) you'd need to go farther along the west coast. I'd look at this as a half-day excursion for the driver (who would have to drop you off and drive back later to pick you up, eating up about three hours of his time total) and you'd need to tell him what kind of beach day you want. That might be worth $50 or $60 total.

Think about what you want, then find a taxi driver and work our what he can offer you for your day. We had no bad experiences with Vincy taxi drivers cheating us. Hope this helps.
