Warning to those who buy fakes in Italy

To those of your cruising to Italy and like to buy designer knock-off's, be aware that the Italian government is really cracking down on this illegal trading of watches, handbags and other copies of designer products. You are now subject to a 2000 Euro fine if you are caught with them. This is

mostly aimed at the large supply of street vendors.

In addition to the fine, you will need to hire a lawyer to defend yourself even if you are let off with a warning.

Note that they are not going after the sellers. They are going after the buyers. This way, they don't have to pay for the

extradition of the sellers, most of whom are not Italian citizens.
