Thanks for the link. I didn't even know Russia had a cruise ship. My understanding was she has been abandon for 2 years.

Thanks for posting the link! We were on the 'Maiden Voyage' of this ship a couple decades ago. She was taken out of the Russian tourist trade in the Black Sea, purchased by a Russian and leased to a Canadian company. The ship was being retrofitted to appeal more to North Americans but it was not completed when we were to board in the Azores. We picked it up in Gibraltar a week or so late and had carpenters, electricians and painters working. There were only 49 passengers as most of the cabins were not yet ready. Ours had the longest, narrowest beds we've ever seen and pillows that would severely injure someone in a pillow fight. The bathroom had a new marble floor but no dam separating the shower from the rest of the room, slosh, slosh. And one leg had to fit under the sink when sitting on the toilet. The food was good (Swiss chef) with choices of meat, fish or vegetarian. The crew was Russian and the owner was aboard. The staff was Canadian and lecturers were from the US, England and Canada.

The itinerary was what hooked us: Madeira, Canary Islands, Cape Verdes, Ascension, St. Helena, Tristan de Cunha, South Georgia, Falklands, Ushuaia. All excursions were included. I believe it was about 50 days and was a most wonderful adventure with a price too low to mention. The ship went on to do cruises to Antarctica.

Lyubov Orlova was the Russian Marilyn Monroe and there were photos of her throughout the ship. The Russian stewardesses rivaled her in beauty. One of the best things was the slimming mirror that we had in the hallway as we approached our cabins.
