Hey Cruise Lines - wanna put rum runners

out of business?

You can satisfy both us smugglers and the "no rule shall be broken" crowd by simply offering affordable options when it comes to adult beverages.

Holland America allows you to bring on unlimited bottles of wine - both at embarkation and in ports. On my Noordam TA I was able to buy very good wines in Spain and Portugal for a few Euros a bottle. Also - Holland America sells liter bottles of liquor for cabin consumption at affordable prices. I believe i paid under $30 each for Sky vodka and Bacardi rum(compared to $80 on other ships).. My rum runners stayed at home for that cruise.

On our upcoming Celebrity cruise I have the Premium Beverage package upgrade which means almost everything is included, and if I want a $20 drink or glass of wine I only have to pay the difference from $14...my poor RR's will again miss the boat!

You still make money and we still have a good time - no-brainer or what?

You are correct about HAL permitting that, for now but there is some talk days may be limited. It is only rumor butr I expect one of these days they'll put an end to it and adopt the same policy as the other similar cruise lines.

I have to agree that I find the prices on HAL reasonable. The price of drinks in the bar are comparable to what we would pay at a bar where we live. I understand that the "bring as much wine on board as you wish" is changing in the near future along with adding an option to pay a set price per day for drinks if you choose.

I think HAL charges a fair price for their cabins that they don't need to pad the cost of drinks to make the profit on the cruise.
