Telephone service on board

Hi All,

 

I know I will need to call home a few times during my next cruise. Email will not suffice. What is the best cost effective method of making a call while traveling?

There is only one way - the ship's satellite link which is expensive.

If you have A T & T cell service, telephone calls from San Juan or St. Thomas are no extra roaming charges. I always call from there and I don't pay anything extra.

 

Two things ...... I see you're on Westerdam but are you doing Eastern or Western itinerary?

Also, confirm A T & T no extra roaming charges apply to Hawaii.

If you have another server, see if your cell plan has the same deal.

Ah, that makes a difference :). Even without an international calling plan calling in port will surely be cheaper than on the ship (I assuming we are talking about cell phones). Check with your service provider for international rates and packages.

On the Amsterdam in December someone told me about the ships calling card. I asked about it at the front desk and it was about $20 or $25 for 10-12 minutes or thereabouts. You use the phone in your cabin. I didn't try it out but it could be an option.
