Afternoon in St. Maarten

Hi - my husband is diving from 8:30-12:30. What can we do close to Phillipsburg port after he's done diving? Good shopping/walking around the port area? A nice beach close by? All aboard at 5 p.m.

Also - any ideas of what I can do while he's diving.

Thank you!

Just a shotgun of ideas:

There is GREAT shopping in downtown Philipsburg, a 20 minute walk or very short $7 (all day) Water Taxi ride from the cruise facility. There is limited shopping at the Cruise Facility, but the best is downtown.

There is a beach in Philipsburg, Great Bay Beach. It's an OK beach, but I wouldn't recommend going into the water there. If your husband spent the morning diving, perhaps he'd be satisfied with just lounging on the beach with a few cold ones?

You could enjoy a casual breakfast onboard, then make it to Frontstreet and spend some time shopping before he's done, then the beach and/or lunch or some more shopping.

If you're serious, many jewelry stores offer complimentary drinks while you shop. Guavaberry has free tastings. There are several Casinos, and there is the Sint Maarten Museum.

Well, that's a start.

Thank you for your advice! I think we will spend the afternoon shopping downtown!
