If you're bumped...

...from your modified Interior with picture window, can Carnival place you in a regular interior room? Or will they find another picture window room or better yet, an OV room or balcony?

I have the only room left on the Panorama deck and don't want to be moved to the 1st or 2nd floor. There's nothing wrong with them, but I wanted to be higher up for a change. :)

No, you will not be downgraded if you're bumped. You will be given another cabin in your same category (say 4F to 4F) or higher (4G or OV - which will be on deck 1 or 2... Highly doubt the upgrade to a balcony though)

Thanks for the prompt response. I have found another 4J on deck 7 that is not modified. I wonder if I should switch to it and be happy...though I want to be on deck 10. But I'd hate to be moved down to 1 or 2.

And that is exactly why I did not select the modified cabin on my last cruise - the risk of getting moved to a lower deck OV cabin. (I was able to get a regular cabin right next door to it).

Some people say if you are booking very close to sail-date, and you book the modified cabin, then there is less chance that you would get moved as most people wanting (i.e. needing) a modified would have booked much earlier so as to ensure that they DO get the modified cabin that they need.

I moved to the non-modified cabin on deck 7. Both modified cabins on that deck and deck 6 were available as well as 2 non modified cabins on deck 6. I really wanted to stay on deck 10, but the cruise isn't until July and it's only March now. Oh, and in the process I got a price drop!

Is this for your Valor cruise? I love deck 7. Its very quiet there. Have not stayed on Deck 10 before, but I can't imagine that much of a difference. It is not as if you are in the belly of the ship or anything. Empress is very popular. We stayed in one of those cabins on the 7th floor on Valor and really liked it, except there was a lot of motion. Now that I have discovered Bonine, I would be willing to try it again. :D

WELCOME!

If it was me in your situation' date=' I'd move to deck 7 now... I dont like to take the chance... and I can open up the cabin for someone who needs the accessible cabin. On a side note, I dont like the showers/bathrooms in accessible cabins - sure they are HUGE compared to regular bathrooms... but man! water everywhere!!! LOL

Whatever you decide, have a fantastic cruise!

[i']ETA: OOOPS - I just saw that you switched! :)[/i]

Yes, it's for my Valor cruise; my birthday cruise! :p

Motion? Great. I normally book midship, but decided to try the inside with a window so that I could be on a higher deck. Oh well, I have dramamine (sp), so I should be good. Thanks for the information. And I'm happy because the Resident's Rate made this cabin $10 more than a 4B cabin.

Our last 2 cruises were on the Valor and we stayed on deck 7, interior, forward, just past the cut-off from midship, cabin #7254. We loved the location of our cabin. We had the same cabin both times. Very centrally located - 2 decks up to Lido, 2 decks down to theater, casino, etc. Made it easy to use the steps and not have to wait for the elevator (also good exercise after eating all the good food!)

Our cruise in April is on the Freedom and once again we will have cabin #7254. Husband likes it that he doesn't have to remember a new number!

One that is wheelchair-accessible.

Not exactly. There are modified cabins and then there are handicapped accesible cabins. Modified cabins have some features that those who are mobility impaired but can still walk will find useful for them, but a true wheelchair bound cruiser will not find a modified cabin accessible for their needs at all; they will need a handicap/accessible cabin. And yes, there is a difference between the two.

Thanks for that information, Lisa. I thought it meant wheelchair accessible...especially when Carnival posts the wheelchair picture. But you learn something new every day. :)
