Cell Phone Service Cruising out of NOLA

Since it takes about 8 hours to cruise down the river before we get to the Gulf of Mexico, will we still have cell phone service while on the river? Normally this would not be a concern, but our high school basketball teams have the possibility of playing in the state finals Saturday evening and we would love to be able to get updates during the game.

I had service last year the entire night, didn't make any calls but no charges on a smart phone. The signal could have been RCI but I would think there would have been a charge for incoming e-mails.

The ship does not turn on their system if they are in reach of a land based cells service. You should be able to use your cell phone while going down the river without incurring any ship charges.
