Note current events at the Meyer Werft

 

Papenburg 5th, March 2013 - In a ship construction in the building dock II i is today on fire with heavy smoke. Currently the company fire brigades of the yard and the local fire brigade Papenburg are still in use.

 

The affected areas of production as well as the visitor center for the Meyer Werft were evacuated.

 

Notes on the causes are not yet available. "We basically install during the construction phase extensive security and alarm systems on the ships, so that we could react very quickly," said security manager Markus voters.

 

According to current information as there is no personal injury. The damage can be determined not to date. The completion of the new building in 2014, is unchallenged for the latest information.
