ecowen Posted May 12, 2004 #26 Share Posted May 12, 2004 The first morning on Galaxy 3/19 I received breakfast with the non-dairy creamer. I asked for real cream, and after that every morning I received a pitcher of heavy cream. I can't believe that it's cheaper for them to give out full pitchers of cream. When enough people demand real cream, they will probably realize the error of their ways and stop purchasing non-dairy creamer. In the buffet, I used the milk dispenser to cream my coffee, another way to avoid the non-dairy stuff.
superjerryw Posted May 13, 2004 #27 Share Posted May 13, 2004 If you bought half & half in port and brought it back to the ship would they confiscate it and return it to you the last night of the cruise after it had been stored unrefrigerated the entire time..... urbanian Posted May 14, 2004 #29 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Faygelah and I were on the same cruise on Connie, (Hey, PD!) and in addition to serving cream in the dining room, they also had individual packs of half&half on ice in the buffet line at each meal. iamirish Posted May 15, 2004 Author #31 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Today, I had a chance to speak with "rep" from Celebrity Cruises at the "San Diego Cruise Fair" about the change from 1/2 & 1/2 to "non-dairy creamer" on their ships. She told me that she had not heard anything about it, but she said she would find out for me, as she was going a Celebrity Cruise in about three weeks. NYY Posted May 16, 2004 #32 Share Posted May 16, 2004 Instead of cutting costs by going to the non dairy stuff, couldn't they just replace the 1/2 & 1/2 with 1/4 & 3/4? or better yet 1/3 & 2/3? Have a good one... ...John Century
newmexicoNita Posted May 16, 2004 #33 Share Posted May 16, 2004 boy, am I living in the wrong life; I could care less if I get 1/2 and 1/2 or non dairy. I do like 1/2 and 1/2 but holy cow: AS for butter looking so pretty or being wrapped in aluninum paper and not the exact amount of silver on the table, does any of this rally affect how good or bad your cruise experience will be? superjerryw Posted May 17, 2004 #35 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I wouldn't care if they took some of the silverware away. It would give me more room on the table to put my elbows..... 45014 Posted May 17, 2004 #36 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I agree with NM Nita, if creamer is the only thing you have to worry about, you have WAY TOO MUCH time on your hands. To some people, just having not to make the coffe and shop for the creamer, is just fine. Take your own and hide it in the ice bucket, if you are that worried about it. iamirish Posted May 17, 2004 Author #37 Share Posted May 17, 2004 45014, I think you have missed the whole point of this thread - IF Celebrity Cruise Lines wants to be a 5-star cruise line, then it should act like one. Many of us like to "enjoy life to the fullest" and we expect that little “extra†when we go on a cruise. Tom
tuggers Posted May 17, 2004 #38 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Tom, amen to the little 'extras'. On the Zenith in April we only had the butter rosettes at the Captains Table. I assumed it was because they were having the all out war against the Norwalk virus and did not think the wrapped butter would be a long time thing. As for the cream, we had half and half in the dining room and for room service which were the only places I drank coffee. I just hope the whole 'we don't do rare and med rare beef' thing doesn't last. Now that annoyed me! Until the Zenith! Second X Cruise In Two Months! tuggers Posted May 19, 2004 #40 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Why? I've never heard of the CDC saying anything about that except on ground meat products. Maybe we could get the CDC to write us a statement. I offered to sign something taking personal responsibility. It wasn't like I was asking for steak tartare! I just wanted it med rare! It did take away from the enjoyment of my meals and I just stopped ordering beef. Surprisingly, lamb was served med rare without a hitch! Until the Zenith! Second X Cruise In Two Months! ibeejd Posted May 19, 2004 #41 Share Posted May 19, 2004 You will be pleased to know tuggers that I was NEVER denied my very favorite RARE (barely warm!!) red meat on my cruise last week on the Zenith. We also had the butter in pretty little flowers EACH AND EVERY night. I do have one complaint tho....they seemed to have mis-placed my invite to the captains table!! We did get to meet him in the Martini bar and we were surprised to find that he has to pay for his Martinis (eeekkk) so we bought his and waved good-bye. Maybe that invite will come on the next cruise.
