Portofino vs. Chops

Recommended Posts

Im going on Liberty OTS in two weeks and we want to spend a dinner in either Chops or Portofino. Which one should we go to?

Here are the menus in case that might help your decision:

Also, Portofino will be replaced by Giovanni's Table at some point in the future, so if you are still on the fence, then you might want to try Portofino before it goes away.

FWIW I would choose Chops every time. We ate in Portfinos on Indy this time last year and we didn't enjoy it much at all - I couldn't put my finger on it but something wasn't quite 'right' with the ambience.

Looking forward to eating at Chops and Giovanni's Table (for the 1st time) this summer on Serenade :)

Both will give you a great dining experience. Our favorites in Chops are the baked oyster "duet" appetizer, mushroom soup, large filet mignon and chocolate cake . In Portofino Ciuppin (seafood) soup , the caeser salad, T bone ( marinated maks it tender and flavorful) and tiramisu. Of course, with the variety we often have other things ( such as lamb chops in Portofino and veal chop in Chops) but always seem to come back to our usual's. Would be interested in what menu items others prefer.

Both are excellent. The only reason I would give the edge to Portofino is their wonderful shrimp risotto, their steaks are similar quality to those in Chops, and it is slightly cheaper.

On our last cruise we ate in Portofino twice and Chops once and thoroughly enjoyed both.

I prefer Portofino's. We've had several nice meals there. We decided to go to Chops on Liberty last month. The slowly braised short rib was undercooked so was tough to cut and eat and they ran out of brocollini and brought brocolli instead and didn't mention it. The red velvet cake was yummy. I would have liked lamb but it was only available in a mixed grill on Liberty.
