carnival refunds

I love carnival but one thing I think is wrong is that some ship only get half there money back.If there is a problem with the ship and they still sailed to some ports they should get full refund.I went on Royal Caribbean left out of Baltimore 1 day late because of mechanical issues and sailed to Freeport and had to dock because it continued to have issues .I had a suite with 4 paying adults and got a full refund option was full refund or future cruise.Carnival needs to own up to there problems and understand people take a vacation to get away from problems and spend lots of money for cruising so they should offer something good so people will continue to cruise carnival again.

Why, if you have been taken to some of the promised ports, eaten your meals, enjoyed on board entertainment, and slept in your cabin, should you be entitled to a full refund? Your vacation is not ruined, it is partially impacted. Disappointing, for sure! I would be very bummed out. But in no way do I think anyone deserves a full refund if they miss a port.

Carnival has been very generous with passengers on recently affected ships. They are "owning up" and taking responsibility. They are handling the problems very well, in my opinion.

I am not a Carnival Cheerleader, just so you know. I actually prefer Norwegian. But when I see a company doing something right, I like to say so.

I agree. The problems Carnival is experiecing could happen with any cruise line. But I feel there is room for improvement of their part. I get ticked off when you voice your concerns or issues on this board and members want to rip you to pieces. Crusing is not free and people go on vacation to get away from it all. As well as to receive the stress of their normal daily routine. If I spending my hard earn money to patronize a business, I expect a certain level of quality and service. But most of all to be treated as a valued customer.

Who ripped the OP to pieces for voicing their concerns?

Again, you lack the ability to comprehend or you just like to misconstrue what others say so you can attack them. Either way, Have fun with those Pom Poms that you seem so fond of.

Comprehension vs perception. I understand what you are saying, but I perceive it as being properly served with cheese.

I'll enjoy my pom poms. Thank you for mentioning them.

Fire,

I last read the terms several years ago; as I recall there was wording in the letter about the $25 being an estimate of what the port taxes would have been? It wasn't called an estimate, but something similar and there was wording about how it was something other than what we were entitled to.

My contact lenses are bothering me. I honestly thought the first line of your message said, "I'll enjoy my porn. Thank you..."

Royal has been known to dump people off with no compensation.

For Triumph, people got a free cruise AND a future free cruise AND $500 AND transportation. Time for Royal to step up.

What those passengers experienced fits your definition of a cruise vacation? You must be a person easily pleased.

LOL...I thought it said porn too. :p

Comprehension or perception? I guess I should add predisposition. :D I had to go back and read it myself to make sure I posted what I meant to post instead of what I was thinking...........:o

Missing a port because of weather doesn't justify getting money back. Does an airline refund money for a weather cancelled flight? Cruise lines can't control the weather anymore than airlines can.

Equipment failure is another story... but you still don't get compensated by airlines, but I guess you should for a missed port?

lylone,

I assumed they did? Obviously I've never had a flight cancelled due to weather, but I assumed they either refunded or got you on another flight once the storm cleared.

Yes you get compensated by the airlines for any cancelled flight or another flight out.

We were on the Liberty last November and missed St Thomas due to propulsion issues. We got a $50pp refund. Now I see the Legend guest get $100pp refund and 50% off a future cruise for missing one port. They should at least have some consistency in their refund policy. Sure would have been ice if they offered us that. St Thomas was the port we most looked forward to.

YES!!! Same issues as on the Legend. I think they should have to backtrack and give us the same compensation. Carnival, I DO have my letter from the Captain stating that there were issues with the boat!

The $25 per person per port went away years ago. Now its the tax on the port fees, about $10 per person. (Its in the FAQs if you want to check me on this).

The $25 was in the FAQs so since it was policy, I dont think I would consider it a gift.

On the other hand people who dont read the terms and conditions and expect more than the tax on the port charges back for missing a port are also in the wrong. They should read the terms they are clicking to accept and not whine.

Firefly,

I ran across this letter while uploading old pics to Flickr. This one is from 2010 and missed port fee was tax only $7.16 per passenger;

  • 1 year later...

Last February I had trouble with the cabin, and other areas aboard the remodeled Sunshine. Starting on first day I had housekeeping and guest services in the room several times.

I thought Carnival had a cabin guarantee as in news releases and their web site.

Long and the short. No cabin change, OBC, refund of any kind. Claim guest services had no record of my complaints.

Two letters mailed in by me to Miami, and not one written reply. I did get an email.

Carnival guarantee ? No sir. 3 and done.

They have a Vacation Guarantee. If you are not happy within 24 hours you may disembark at the first port of call. Read the guarantee on their website. If you stay longer than that and are still not happy, then it's on you. You made the choice to stay.

Then every body here loves (works) for the industry. LOUSY customer service aboard that ship and subsequently.

I was wrong to think they would keep any records at guest services. Also wrong to think they could take the time to type a letter.

Again...3 and done.
