advise for cruise on Millinnium departing from Venice August 14th, 05

I am looking for any input/suggestions for the cruise. Don't know anything about ports/hotels tours, etc. and looking for any advise. How far is the airport from the port in Venice and how far is it in Barcolona? What is the best way to get back and forth. Should I arrive a day before and stay an extra day? Any suggestions on where to stay? What is worth doing? Any tips on the ship itself?

Thanks for your help.

We are on this cruise. If you are coming from the US, it seems that recomendations are that you come in a couple of days early to get over the jet lag. The airport in Venice is about 15 km away from the city. There are lots of ways to get into Venice depending on where you are staying. We are still looking into this. prices seem to range from 25/30 euros for a land taxi, to 50/60 euros for a water taxi.

it is about a 15 euro taxi from the ship in Barcelona to most popular hotels, and we paid 23 euros last year from the airport in Barcelona to our hotel. Last year we stayed in the Majestic, which was fantastic, but this year we are in the AC Diplomatic on a recomendation as the Majestic has no space when we booked, but now has but we are sticking with the AC.

We were on this cruise last year on the reverse journey and it was fantastic. The Millennium is a super ship with everything you could wish for.

Come over to the Roll Call board, and also post any questions on the Europe board, where I am sure you will get all the answers you may need.

We just got off the Mille last week and we had a wonderful time. She's a great ship.

Dubrovnic is a wonderful city and you can take the ship shuttle to the gate of the old city and just walk around. We have done this itinerary before so we got a private driver for Athens and Naples. The Acropolis was magnificent. We did Rome on Your Own with Celebrity. The bus drops you off at St. Peters around 9:30 and picks you up about 4:00. We did A Taste of Florence with Celebrity. They drop you off in Florence and you go with a guide for about 31/2 hours and they show you the pickup point. Then you have about 4 hours on your own before a 3:45 pickup. Check out the boards for Europe, they're invaluable.
