Any experience with this hotel?

I assume you mean Hotel Barbara in Barcelona.

 

This is a 1 star budget hotel about 250 yards from Las Ramblas and 500 yards from the nearest metro station.

 

Some people are concerned about the area around the hotel at night (a bit of a red light district and a little run down) I probably wouldn't recommend it to women on their own but you look like a young couple so should be no problem.

 

As long as you are only looking for basic accommodation without any frills you should be ok.

Thanks for the reply Carol. We're just spending one night before the cruise, so it should be OK. We just need a bed and a shower for one night... no frills needed. My parents will be there one more night before us, though. I hope it's safe for them. Hopefully they'll just catch up on their sleep that first day and we'll arrive 24 hours later ;) I did remember reading about the red light district feel but it seemed everyone said they we not bothered. It seems to be a great location to Las Ramblas and the port.
