Mrs.C05 Posted March 24, 2013 #126 Share Posted March 24, 2013 Was this cruise on March 17-23? If so, I was on this sailing with you! As for Ocho Rios, I would HIGHLY suggest booking an excursion through Carnival or with a reputable tour guide. We used Peat Taylor and had such a blast! Worth every penny! Peat did tell us about the locals and to say no thanks and keep walking. We did have some try to get us to buy stuff on the way out of Dunn Rivers Falls, however we just said no thanks, didn't make eye contact and kept on walking. No one touched us or grabbed us. TNDeb Posted March 24, 2013 #127 Share Posted March 24, 2013 LOVIN your review so far. We'll be on the Freedom in June for the same 6 day cruise. It's our 1st cruise and to say we're excited is an understatement!!! I noticed your Dad's NASCAR hat. Who's his driver? We live about 30 miles from the Bristol track and got our racin fix last weekend.

You will truly enjoy cruising and trust me when I say this that it doesn't matter if it is your first cruise or your 12th cruise......you will always be excited. That feeling never goes away :p My dad and I both enjoy NASCAR......our favorite driver is Danica Patrick. Her hometown is about 10 minutes from us....we gotta cheer for the hometown girl. When we got home from our cruise we bought our tickets to Michigan International Speedway. We go to the June race

CruisinTeacher4 Posted March 24, 2013 #133 Share Posted March 24, 2013 So were you able to achieve your mission of eating Key Lime Pie dipped in chocolate. I have always wanted to try that but ways stick with the original slice of Key Lime Pie Yes, but it was quite an adventure! I was six months pregnant at the time and we must have walked miles to find it--I didn't even know the name of the place. It ended up being a serious haul but we did enjoy it. Those electric cars would have made life so much easier:)
wrigley80 Posted March 24, 2013 Author #134 Share Posted March 24, 2013 Well our day in Key West was almost over....the time here always goes way too fast. We decided to take the long way back to Sunshine Scooters Can you see the Freedom poking through?? We rented our electric car from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. When we dropped our car off the shuttle was waiting to take us back to the ship. We had to be back onboard by 3:30 pm and we stepped foot on the ship at 3:25 pm. We definitely got the most out of our day in Key West. Until we meet again......:p Once we were back onboard we headed to the room to drop off our bags and to get cleaned up a little. We then headed to the Atrium for Sports Trivia. I love playing sports trivia I won.....I answered 17 out of 20 correct. My dad and I play as a team There she is....the coveted 24 Karat Ship on a Stick and a Medal
wrigley80 Posted March 24, 2013 Author #135 Share Posted March 24, 2013 After playing trivia we headed outside on the promenade deck to watch us sail-away from Key West We were already quite-a-ways out to sea This was always a nice place to sit and watch the beautiful blue water because there were hardly ever any people out here

wrigley80 Posted March 24, 2013 Author #137 Share Posted March 24, 2013 My dad and I decided to head to dinner around 6:00 pm on this night because we wanted to watch a movie on the Seaside Theatre later Hery made me a little heart again Alan, our waiter, dancing in the dining room. Besides the food this is my favorite part of eating in the dining room. I love watching the waiters sing and dance Strawberry Cheesecake......sorry I didn't get any pictures of the main course that night. I forgot to get any because I was too hungry :p My dad had the diet Lemon Cake
wrigley80 Posted March 24, 2013 Author #138 Share Posted March 24, 2013 After the show we went up to the Serenity Deck to lay under the stars.....we made this an every night occurrence. Each night when the show was over my dad and I would go up to the Serenity Deck to lay in a clamshell and watch the stars. It doesn't get much better than watching the stars over the water on a cruise ship :) There were never any people up there at night.....it was so relaxing One of the nice sitting areas on the Serenity Deck We had a little towel friend waiting for us on the bed when we returned. Our day in Key West is over and its time to head to bed......next up Our First Sea Day

We stopped on Blue Iguana night and Red Frog Pub night. SevenSeasLagoon Posted March 24, 2013 #147 Share Posted March 24, 2013 Super good report! I loved the Key West adventure! We were there a few years ago and I remember a lot of what was in your pics. I have to admit that I am a tree lover too, lol. I always seem to have tree pics from a trip. I also tend to pick up rocks or shells wherever we travel ; ) It's cool that you and your Dad have such a great relationship! I have a great Dad too. moxie99 Posted March 24, 2013 #148 Share Posted March 24, 2013 We are scheduled on the May 26th cruise and can't wait to see Key West/ The big tree you were not sure of looks like a Banyan tree - they are really quite unique in that their root grow down from the tree and into and along the ground from there. Happy cruising!
