Conquest mini review+FTTF

Almost Packed

WE LOVED IT!

Booked FTTF, excellent! We left our hotel at 10:30 (near the airport) and by 11:45 we were on the ship unpacking in our cabin (i'm guesstimating the time)

Went right to our rooms (although heard 3 different times our rooms would be ready) but when we arrived to our cabin, they were just coming out of it cleaning the carpet. Our cruise was the first cruise with the FTTF available. Well worth it IMO if you are not platinum.

Our luggage arrived about 20 minutes later.

Gary, our CD was the best cd we have had thus far!

Our waitstaff was the best we have encountered ever! Food in the MDR was delicious every night.

Our steward did a fine job too keeping our cabin of 4 tidy and our ice bucket and cooler full.

Dh enjoyed behind the fun tour.

We loved the Hasbro Family Game night!!! Great prizes. Sit down on lower level if you want to be in the show. Only complaint, I wish more kids were picked than adults.

Sadly, weather was not agreeable in Grand Cayman, after relocating to another tender port, we were finally cleared to tender. Since our excursion had been cancelled due to weather, we didn't bother getting off the ship.

We had a fun roll call and a great M&G and cabin crawl/poker run.

Only thing I wish was different....Platinum & FTTF get off ship after self assist. That was the only mess we encountered. It's such a small group of people and would be a great benefit/perk to those who qualify to get off instead of waiting/fighting through the mob to get to the designated meeting location. Now I know...just because the paper says fwd, they really mean midship lol.

Guys burgers are awesome!

Camp, of course, was excellent. DS Loved it! We even left him on the ship while we toured Cozumel.

DH was highly disappointed in the Canopy tour booked through the cruiseline for Jamaica. DH & I have taken this tour before and knew what to expect. Apparently it has changed, or some zip lines were out/not operational as it was not as long as it had been before and ended sooner. Dh & DS did this tour. I stayed on the ship with other DS. Loved this time together on the ship. We had the slide to ourselves and I finally rode the slide!

Loved the brunch. I did not care for the "comedy show" not even sure why they bother. May be about 5 minutes of jokes if that at the top of the hour. Best thing about brunch...filet mignon and eggs! Available on sea days.

The ship, of course, was beautiful! The staff was friendly.

DS-18 enjoyed tea time but felt lonely. :(

The casino as usual, took most of my money. The donkeys at the hold em table were just that. but we had fun. we considered it entertainment fees.

The Brits was a fun show, as was the Motown/Divas show. We laughed very hard in the comedy shows as well.

All in all, it was a fabulous cruise. We came home with two 24kt gold plastic ship on a stick trophies, two camp carnival medals, some prizes from family game show. We won our challenge and received a small game and a gift card for a purchase online.

Now, to find another vacation to book!

oh, p.s.

The new rental car area at the airport is a ridiculous long walk! Put on your walking shoes if you plan to rent a car at MSY. And part of the walk is OUTSIDE! Crazy!

We are going on the Conquest in October and also have purchased the FTTF. Did you drive to the port? If so, how was the parking at that time? We will be driving in to NOLA from ATL and spending a few days pre-cruise there. Have heard parking was crazy. Thanks!

We flew in the night before and stayed at a hotel near the airport. We called and arranged a cab to pick us up the next morning.

Since we had fttf, we were off the ship with the platinum people so we missed the madhouse with parking if there was any. The biggest problem we had was the train that decided to pass right when we were pulling out and we had to wait on it. By the time the very long train passed, there was quite a line of cars trying to leave.

Good review. We will be on Conquest in a little less than a month. We bought FTTF too, but I was wondering if its worth it. My biggest concern is getting to the room as soon as we get on, so we can unload carryons, as we will have our 2 year old DD with us.

Hopefully they figure out the debark thing by then, that was the second reason I booked FTTF. We can't really do self disembark as one of us has to push DD's stroller, which would leave the other (DH) with most of the luggage. Last cruise we were in zone 20something, and it took forever to get off the ship. Since we had a 12+ hour drive and had to get back to the hotel to get our car, we were anxious to get on the road. Due to a fiasco involving the hotel shuttle and us being stubborn and waiting for it (when we should have just grabbed a cab), we did not get back to our car and on the road until about 12:30. We did minimal stopping (1 or 2 times for gas maybe and once for food in the car) and managed to get home at 1 a.m. DH and I were exhausted. I was worried he would fall asleep driving. It was stressful. I would like to avoid a repeat of that. One thing I did learn is not to wait so long for the hotel shuttle, even if they tell you that they should be there any minute every time you call.
