Andalsnes, Norway

Recommended Posts

There's a train ride up the mountain. We got off at Bjorli, which is about as far as you can get and still hope to get back and catch the ship. It's a pleasant ride, not Flam by any means but still worth the trip, and at Bjorli you can go for a walk. (You can't do much else there, it's a very small ski resort but doesn't cater for tourists in any other way. Lovely countryside, though.)

You could go to Trollstigen (Path of the trolls).

The road is about 30 minutes from Åndalsnes and en route you pass the famous mountain Trollveggen. I believe it is the larges vertical mountain in Europe.

Trollstigen is the most visited road in Norway. It contains 11 curves and the scenery with its stunning mountains and waterfalls are....yes, you guessed it; spectacular:D

At the top of the road there is cafe and restaurant. There is also a viewpoint which hangs out in the air. The experience is stomach churning as you look hundreds of meters down to the valley.

Trollstigen is closed for the winter and will probably open sometime between late May to mid June.

I am looking forward to hear all about it

Was'nt to sure what expect in Andalsnes having not seen many reviews and photos of the place.

But it must be one of the most Scenic places in Norway.

In the morning we took the Trollstigheimen Bus tour it lasts for approx. 3 hrs 30mins and stops serveral times for comfort stops and photographs.

Really enjoyed this one, some Terrific views, and Great Scenery on the drive up and down.

The weather that morning started off a bit overcast with a bit of light Drizzle ,but in the afternoon it turned out to be just Glorious !

Would have loved to have done the train ride as well ,but couldn't fit in both tours.
