koolmam Posted March 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2013 I am planning a fall cruise on Holland America. I would like to know what is meant by the terms that HAL uses in the cruise descriptions and what "perks" maybe associated with that cruise type? 1) Grand Cruise 2) Collector 3) Discovery Thanks
jhannah Posted March 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2013 Those are simply marketing terms, referring to special or exotic cruise itineraries.
sail7seas Posted March 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2013 Collector Cruise refers to two consecutive voyages HAL links and calls one. There are varying benefits to it including a very small discount over booking as a b-to-b, a Mariners tote which many of us like and consider more substantial than the usual one we get each cruise, sometimes there's a special lunch, a cocktail party or a complimentary dinner in alternative restaurant and sometimes none of that. It is inconsistent and we never really know until we are aboard the ship. The only thing you'll know for sure is if they are providing any extra discount. Grand Cruises are very long (usually 60 or something days) to exotic locations. Amsterdam and Prinsendam do those cruises.
