We're thinking of sailing on the Royal next May- Berlin round trip. We would like to spend some time in Berlin pre-cruise. How many days should be plan? We're not museum people - we love to be outdoors, walking, hiking or sightseeing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Susan

Berlin discussions should be in the Northern Europe section.

Berlin is a great city full of history and with a great vibe. Easy to get around on both the U-Bahn and S-Bahn and Germany is not as expensive as other EU countries. You can see most of the major sites in a full day but spreading over two days will be less stressful. You can easily walk to all the major sights. Even if you aren't into museums, there are some great museums in Berlin including the Pergamon Museum with the Pergamon Altar and Ishtar Gate and Nefertiti bust at the Egyptian Museum? (museum passes are available). Try some currywurst, the city's unofficial dish. There is a day itinerary at cruiseportwiki dot com and a lot of walking tours leave by the Brandenburg Gate (some free and by donation).
