We upgraded from a 4J interior on the upper (6) deck to a balcony on the Vista (9) deck.....for FREE !!! :D PVP said he never would have believe anyone could sail the Dream in a balcony cabin for only $609 per person. :p

I'm loving me some Carnival !!! :D

Great upgrade, but yes it can be done. We sailed on a balcony on 8 cheaper than that, although that was during hurricane season.

Wow!!!! I'm not sure why you're PVP would say that. We are booked in the Lido balcony on the breeze for a nine day eight night cruise for 563 a person. Odd.

As someone somewhat new to cruising I booked a balcony about 3 weeks ago on the past guest discount for $719 - but I am out of luck as I did not book through Carnival and instead booked through my credit card travel agent to use my Discover rewards points (doubles the amount). Lesson learned. Would you agree it is always best to book direct through Carnival? I am on the April 20 cruise too. The price I got was ok but being on a fixed income I would have loved to have had some spending money for fancy drinks or the casino:(

I booked through the Discover website for the first time ever for the Cashback bonus points as well. It was too late for me to book Early Saver for my cruise June 1st, but I was able to upgrade from interior rooms to cove balcony's for only 10.00 more per person with this sale. I prefer to book Early Saver and book directly through Carnival...but I will take the free 127.00 in Cashback bonus money just for using them and still got the nicely priced upgrade.:p

Doesn't matter who you booked with. Call your TA and they should be able to get you a better price/ upgrade! If the TA is unwilling to help, I think you have so many days after booking to transfer your TA booking to carnival. You may be able to switch from TA to carnival, not sure what would happen with your discover rewards though.

Should not be an issue though, Carnival issued a letter to TA's telling them they would honor lower rates for all past guests, TA just has to contact carnival! Definitely worth a phone call!

Hey, SE NC!

Will you please be so kind as to send me your PVP contact info as well? I have absolutely no confidence in the Carnival PVP who is presently assigned to me. During one of our discussions, I discovered that he didn't even know which side of the ship is port or starboard! Needless to say, I am in search of a PVP who knows the product that they are trying to sell.

Any suggestion is most appreciated. Thank you ever so much!

Hope y'alls upcoming cruise will be one for the memory books. Have a great time!:)

Yes you did go. I did book my last cruise also with Discover and while I could not get OBC I did upgrade from ocean view to balcony when the price went down substantially. But I'm kind of convinced if I can't book early saver to qualify for price drops in the future I might just be better off booking direct via Carnival at when the prices drop so much.

Thank you for this information - I called my TA (Discover card) and they could not get through to Carnival and were not told of this. They will get back to me tomorrow (they closed). This will save me tons of money if I can get it resolved and I appreciate you telling me this. I also tried calling Carnival to see if I could switch to them but was on hold too long plus not even sure how that works as the cruise is already paid for.

I'm on the same trip (4/20 Dream) and we're at about $584 per person (husband, daughter and myself) in a balcony, midship, Empress deck. With all of the drops after final payment, we have a $540 OBC (which is almost completely covering our Cheers tab!) It was $280 higher than THAT, but the first drop happened just before our final payment was made, so they just lowered the overall price at that time. So our cost has come down over $800 since we booked is last May.

I was VERY nervous about booking Early Saver, but so far (knocking on wood...) it's worked out for us!

With all the recent cruise cancelations, I am so glad I originally booked Early Saver. My original payment of $993.00 in a 4J on Triumph for 2 people is now $573.00 in an OV on Empress deck on the Elation w $184.00 OBC and a $250 refunded OBC from my original Triumph booking.

Platinum member who rec'd credit of $290 (b/c of Early Saver adjustment/Friends & Family Promo) on 4/8 sailing on Splendor then next day it was taken away and can't get explanation. I've always booked (12 cruises) under Military rate and even got rate adjustment from that, nevermind ES which is a no-brainer credit. I've emailed a bunch of times to no avail. Not happy!!

Nope. 3 in the cabin. Where does the OP state it was two?

They didn't in the original post, but they did later on after both of our posts. I was just surprised that your per person price was so low for the Breeze. It is still a really good rate, but not as impressive had it been only two people in your cabin.

Plus before you knew how many were booked in the OP's cabin you cannot make a fair comparison. You can't really compare per person rates unless you are comparing cabins with the same amount of people in them.

For example, my upcoming cruise (Breeze 8 day) is $879 for a double occupancy, $696 for 3, and $604 for 4.

It is important to know that IF you did not book Early Saver, then there is no price reduction or Onboard Credit AFTER the final payment date....no matter who you booked through. Also educate yourself thoroughly on the Early Saver restrictions to make sure it is the right fit for you.

However, IF you did not book Early Saver and it is past the Final Payment Date... and the price reduction is large enough AND there is availability, then sometimes Carnival will upgrade you for free....

but remember (and this is VERY important)....no cruise line guarantees they will upgrade you for free even if there is availability....they may be upgrading their VIP etc with those cabins first and that is a reasonable thing for you to expect them to do.
