Qwksilver Posted March 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2013 What is the earliest time that I would be allowed on board? I'm trying to avoid long lines and yet start my vacation as early as possible. Thanks Scott
Kryssa Posted March 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2013 There's not a perfect answer to this because if debarkation gets held up for any reason, you'll be delayed. I woundnt arrive before 11 am but we went at 12 with no waiting to avoid any early bird rush. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
judatt Posted March 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2013 We were on the Summit in Dec out of San Juan. We stayed a few days precruise at the Hilton Caribe. The is not far from the cruise terminal. We left our room at 11 AM, checked out of the hotel, got in a taxi to the port, dropped our bags as we got out of the taxi, checked in for the cruise (we were in a suite and there was no line), got our room cards, made reservations for Normandie that night, went to the men's room (my wife waited in the waiting room :)), walked onto the ship and were ordering lunch in Bistro on Five at 11:45. Very smooth process.
dwdwnurse Posted March 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2013 We sailed on the Summit on 3/9. We got to the port around 1045 and were on the ship by 11:25. Fastest and easiest embarkation ever!!! Loved the Summit!
cocobakerchica Posted March 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2013 I last sailed the Summit back in early September. We arrived after 11am(maybe 11:10 or 11:15), and while there was a small crowd at the detectors and check in it was pretty swift moving, with no wait for a shuttle to the ship. We were on board by about 11:45 and having a delicious lunch in Bistro on 5. Of course, this was all offset by the Coast Guard coming to inspect, and our sailaway was delayed until after 8:30pm(We were sitting in the MDR ordering dinner when the ship sailed away). Kryssa is absolutely correct, if there are any delays there will be a wait to board, so there are no guarantees of absolutely avoiding a crowd and long lines getting on the ship. Three years ago, we arrived at 1pm, had swift and painless lines at the check in, then had a delay of over 2 hours to board the ship. That day, the benefit of arriving early meant finding a seat and a good place to stow the carry on bags easily.:D
Vacation Nut Posted March 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2013 We sailed on the Summit on 3/9. We got to the port around 1045 and were on the ship by 11:25. Fastest and easiest embarkation ever!!! Loved the Summit! Same cruise we arrived at 11:55 and were on at 12:16. Getting off at the end was even smoother, we went dwn to the assembly lounge at 7:40 and walked straight off and at the airport before 8:30 incredible! SmittyNYC Posted March 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2013 We just returned from a week on the Summit (3/16 - 3/23). We arrived at the port at 10:45am after landing at the airport just around 10:00am. Check-in took all of 3 minutes, and boarding began at 11:00am. If you check-in before 11:00, they have chairs set-up for you to wait. Rooms were ready at 1:00pm. Have a great trip!
