Non Hurtigruten Excursions

In most places you can visit the towns on your own. If you want to go on a non-ship excursion, bear in mind that the stops are short (the longest are Trondheim and Tromso, about 4 hours) and the boat doesn't wait for you. There usually won't be people waiting on the pier for offers of excursions so it's better to plan in advance if you don't want to go on the ship's excursions. In some towns there will be a guide for a local museum but it's not often (on the top of my head : Vardo, and the visit of the fortress, and maybe also Svolvaer for one of the museum?).
