St. Charles streetcar

We are staying at Harrah's. Where do we catch the St. Charles streetcar. Walk up Canal to St. Charles?

We want to walk around the Garden District. What street do you recommend we get off at? I seem to recall a recommended restaurant for b'fast in the Garden District. Recommendations? Or should we have lunch at Commanders Palace?

After walking around the Garden District, should we take the streetcar back, or, if we continue on, is there anything to see past the Garden District. How far does the streetcar go?

Thanks!

Hi mafig,

Walk up Canal to St. Charles? Walk down Poydras (back entrance to Harrah's casino) to St. Charles and catch it on the corner.

What street do you recommend we get off at? Washington Ave.

Or should we have lunch at Commanders Palace? Absolutely!:D:D They have tremendous lunch specials and 25 cent Martini's.

By all means take it all the way to the end to Claiborne Avenue as you will see some beautiful houses, the campuses at Loyola University and Tulane, Audubon Park and the Riverbend.

This is a great way to spend a few hours.

Many years ago, yes. Now business casual works. Commander's is a place that New Orleanians go for special ocassions, birthdays, anniversaries etc. So I would never wear jeans or shorts for lunch. At dinner I would always wear a jacket.

Hope this helps.

The St Charles street car doesnt go all the way to the end. THey are doing repairs so after Jefferson they will have a shuttle bus that will take you the rest of the way.

Still a great way to see the garden district and uptown
