DIY Ports for Adriatic Cruise?

Recommended Posts

Can I recommend a half day sailing trip on the Monty B yacht for Kotor? The yacht is owned by an English couple, Katie and Tim, and they take you around the bay of Kotor on a 4 hour trip. It was the highlight of our cruise. Just Google Monty B and you will find them. You will have plenty of time to walk around Kotor in the morning before going for your trip.

Valletta is very walkable. We took a taxi to Mdina, had an hour and a half there, before the taxi driver came back for us. You could also easily take the bus. Then we walked around Valletta. Do not miss St John's Co-Cathedral. It is stunning!

I agree with everything posted by Margbem (above). But we would add that there is an awful lot more to Malta then Valletta and the Mdna (love this place). And in Valetta there are lots of places not really within walking distance of the port (there is a good public bus system). Some (including friends of ours) really enjoyed using the HoHo bus in Malta.

Split is very easy to see on your own. The ship (or tender) will dock very close to the palace (old town). You can wander around on your own or take a guided tour. You will see a place offering tours. We just used our guidebook.

The waterfront has restaurants and is a great place to sit and take in all the scenery, people and ships.

All are very easy to see and DIY or use independent tours.

Koper is quite small but nice for a few hours. There are trips to Lake Bled to consider. We used the local bus to visit Piran which is a good pairing with Koper.

Split is easy, right off the tender stop and you are the in Diocletian's palace

Similarly Kotor is right next to the tender drop. I have also heard good feedback on the Mobty B. May try this ourselves next time.

Malta has lots to offer and is easy to DIY or HoHo.
