You can actually use it to pay the DSC. Simply go to the casino and get cash on your account. It will cost you 3%, but cash is king.

I pay the DSC in advance, so that doesn't matter to me, but... Have to ask. I thought the promotional OBC wasn't able to be cashed out...only the purchased OBC. True? False? I seem to be getting conflicting information here.

Just off of the Dawn yesterday. I had $107 left of my $500 OBC and I went to the casino on saturday night and requested $100 in cash from my OBC. I was handed $100 and charged $3 all came off of my remaining OBC. As long as you have a remaining balance in your OBC it will draw from that just as an on board purchase would.

It depends if it is "Refundable" or "Non-Refundable". If you get a copy of your account say the 2nd day of your cruise, it will show on there which it is.

Usually "Non-Refundable" is from NCL and you CANNOT cash it out at the casino. Or at least I couldn't on the STAR. She gave me my "Refundable" with the 3% charge. So I went to the watch store and bought myself a new Guess watch with the $100 Non-refundable OBC.

Thanks, hun! This is precisely why I asked. I had been hearing this designation all along. I'd been told that NCL's promo OBC was non-refundable, but the Bon Voyage OBC you buy (or others buy as gifts for you) was refundable type.

But it seems that sometimes there is a glitch on ships when dealing with OBC in general. Some people report that certain ships at certain times seemed to be doing the opposite of what was expected. A new person in the office making mistakes? I don't know.

If you get $300 OBC from NCL and add say $700 of your own OBC, which one gets used first?

If I have $300 at the end of the cruise, will I get that back? If so, how would I get it back? Would it be credited to my credit card?

This is incorrect. You can 'cash out' ANY OBC. I just did it twice last month on a B2B on the Star.

Interesting  Must depend on the staff at the time. Last year I had purchased $1200 OBC and had $100 from NCL.

They used my $1200 first, as the last night I had $200 REFUNDABLE and $100 NON-REFUNDABLE. I went to the Purser's Desk requested a refund and was told it was NCL policy to mail to address on record. I was leaving for Hawaii a week later and knew the extra cash wouldn't reach my house before then, so I went to the Casino to cash out, and was told I could only get the $200, she couldn't give me the $100 NCL OBC.

Guess they can (and do) do whatever they want at any given time.
