Trunk Bay vs Megans Bay

Have been to Megans Bay twice. Is it worth the trip to St Johns for a few hours at Trunk Bay?

Is so, should should we go through the Ship or on our own?

Thanks-

Hi there,

Trunk Bay is very beautiful. The ride over was a little rough, but it depends on the day. I have never been to Megan's Bay, but hope to see it someday...have fun!

We do it all the time, but you've got to make sure you have the time .... cab to Red Hook and then Ferry over both ways so you have to consider the time/traffic etc. to get back to the ship. But, if you have the time I highly suggest it .... LOVE St. John!! And, although Trunk Bay is very popular, we prefer Cinnamon ... a lot quieter, but then we aren't big snorkelers either. Good luck and have a great time whichever you decide to do! :)

Agree that it is worth the time and cost to enjoy the beautiful beaches of STJ. Try Trunk first because it's better protected, if it is busy try Cinnamon.

Figure an extra 1.5 hr travel time and $25pp roundtrip to STJ from Red Hook which is a much better option than the ship excursion. Very easy self-excursion, you'll meet many others doing the same thing.

Magens is nice but we much prefer Sapphire Beach when staying on STT, you may want to try that one visit.

Have a great day!

Not sure where you're docked but you will have time whether at Crown or Havensight.

Just let the dock coordinator direct you to a taxi destined for Red Hook (30 min), take the 20 min ferry to Cruz Bay, and then a short taxi to a beach. You can add a short island tour for a nominal fee as well.

Total travel time is about 3 hrs roundtrip (barring any delays or long ferry waits) so you'd have 3 - 3.5 hrs to enjoy on STJ. The ferry departs every hour on the hour from both STT and STJ.
