WindyCity Posted June 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Ships time changes to fit the time zone you are in.
debra77797 Posted June 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Yes. We started off in Ft. Lauderdale on Eastern Daylight Time. During the day at sea from HMC to Grand Cayman the ship set their clock back so that when we arrived in GC and Costa Maya we were on the same time as them (Central Daylight Time). During the day at sea from Costa Maya to Key West the ship set their clock forward to get back on EDT.
arzz Posted June 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2005 If time changes are disconcerting to you -- avoid the western caribbean -- seems there is a new time almost every day.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2005 You will get a notice in your stateroom in the form of a card under your chocolate indicating whether you are to set your clock forward or backwards. And their will be a reminder in the daily program.
Pete Jackson Posted June 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Ever notice how world cruises almost always go westward around the Earth. So time changes are almost always moving the clock back, giving an extra hour of sleep. A nice perk of world cruises, I feel. Of course, you lose those 24 hours all at once when crossing the date line. And so you get one 'day' less on the ship than you think you paid for; and three meals less - a boon for dieters! Phineas Fogg went eastwards around the globe in his fictional trip, and so counted 81 days when only 80 had elapsed in London, and hence he lost an hour of sleep 24 times!
