Hello to all,

My Lovely Wife Opal and I will be in London/Paris for 10 days next May/June 2014. We thought it would fun to do a cruise from London (South Hampton ) to the scandanavian countrys then back to London. Any suggestions as to what cruise lines or itineraries would best, would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks

Southampton is quite a journey from London. Take a look and see if royal car are doing Baltic from Harwich. We did that last year on Jewel of the Seas, superb. We also did the Baltic from Harwich 3 years ago on the celebrity constellation, so might be worth checking out celebrity too. both itineraries were similar. harwich port is an easy train ride from central London. Hope this helps.....

Cruise-wise, Scandanavia broadly means either the Norwegian fjords or the Baltic ports. The Baltic will give you a wider variety, including places like St Petersburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, but the shortest cruises from the UK are about 12 days. The fjords are mainly for the scenery, and 7-day cruises are common-place.

UK cruises from Harwich, Southampton and Dover (all 80+ miles from London, but classed as "London" by cruise lines ). Public transport from central London (but not necessarily fro London's airports) to all these ports is excellent.

Occasional cruises from further north in the UK

Most cruise lines offer fjord or Baltic cruises

JB :)

We have just booked a 12 day Baltic cruise with Carnival in August. It seems remarkably cheap at for an ocean view room...I believe it is even cheaper to US citizens.

The cruises that start in June are even cheaper than the above as well.
