KimberleyFL Posted April 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2013 Hello, Like others have done, I'm posting this on several ports. These are all new ports for me: St. Kitts St. Johns St. Lucia Barbados My sister and I are in our late 40's. We love the plantation house and history type tours. I see several of these types of excursions on the RCI website and I'm willing to do private tours as well. Which plantation/sugar cane/carriage house/history type tours are the best for each port? We are not particularly interested in forts or ruins. We usually like to do a little beach time in one port. Which port and beach would you pick for beach time? Also, which port is best for a dolphin encounter/swim? Thank You.
Rare MrSchwump Posted April 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2013 We weren't sure what to do when we visited St. Kitts for the first time last month. We decided we didn't to do a long comprehensive tour but did want to see Brimstone Hill fortress. We went into town and in the vicinity of The Circus, the main square in Basseterre, we were lucky to find a taxi driver named Mate (as in, "Ahoy, Mate") who drove us there. He was a great guy, very personable He was a lifelong resident of St. Kitts. He gave us a lot of insight into what island life was like. He even showed us his hometown. He didn't have a long spiel prepared for tourists, he just chatted with us and told us his story. The fort was really cool with some unbelievable views and a lot of history. We were there about 45 minutes and it took us about a half hour each way, up and back. Mate was happy to stop anywhere we wanted for photo ops. He was a real gentleman and I would highly recommend contacting him if you want to see St. Kitts. His email is hildred_10@yahoo.com .
Miss Vickie Posted April 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2013 Brimstone is really worth seeing - it's a World Heritage site, and the views are amazing. Thenford Gray offers a great island tour, which includes Romney Manor and Brimstone. Buelah can arrange a plantation tour on Nevis.
