lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #78 Share Posted April 22, 2013 The Breeze was in port when we pulled into St. Thomas. Here she is as seen through my window in my room: Nice aft! ;) We had breakfast on the Lido deck and got off the ship with Jenny and Lance around 10:45 a.m. to take the tram to Paradise Point. My breakfast of choice: DH's breakfast:
lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #79 Share Posted April 22, 2013 It is a short walk to the tram, but we had to make it through a couple of locals trying to sell us excursions and a bit of road construction. I just had to take a picture of this warning sign. The first bullet point cracked me up! Paradise Point as seen from inside the tram: There was also a lot of construction at Paradise Point itself. lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #83 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Here is their famous drink, The Bushwacker! It was delicious and packed quite a punch! Then again, I'm also a lightweight when it comes to drinking. LOL! Me with DH in the background: DH: The men checking out the construction. LOL! lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #84 Share Posted April 22, 2013 After a couple of hours at the top, we headed back to the ship for lunch. Then Jason and I dozed/napped in the Serenity area while Jenny and Lance went to the spa. Here is a picture of a flower in St. Thomas on the way back to the ship: Desserts on Lido: Serenity: We picked the perfect time to go to Paradise Point because there was a downpour that lasted for a few minutes. We were in the covered part of Serenity so we didn't get wet. This and the downpour we got right before muster in Miami was the only time we got rain. lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #85 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Oh, I forgot to mention, before we got off the ship, the crew was doing a lifeboat drill. Jenny could see it from her stateroom window. I'd never seen that before, so that was pretty cool.
lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #86 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We watched the show Just Rock. It was good, but I liked Wonderful World better. After the show we went back to our rooms. DH went to get pizza and I had cookies delivered from room service. A dino! Never gotten one of those before!

KPfromCT Posted April 22, 2013 #88 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We were in St. Thomas with you, on the Breeze!!! Wasn't that downpour in Miami something?? Glad it cleared up in time for sail away. Love the pics of the tram, but I was too scared to do it. Heights and I don't agree much:o Loving your review....keep up the great work!!!
lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #89 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We got off the ship at 8 a.m. and got a little turned around looking for the trolleys (I had stupidly left my map on the ship), but we asked a police officer who pointed us in the right direction. We got on the free trolley at stop 14 after waiting for all but a few minutes. I knew it was the right trolley because it said El Morro on it. We were at the fort in 10 minutes. We got there a little early so we had to wait until it opened. I thought I read on the Fun Times that San Juan is an hour ahead of ship time, but either I misread or the fort is on ship's time. The fort opened at 9 a.m. ship time. Admission was only $3 per person.

The tram ride was really quick! The only part that was a little nerve wracking was when it went by the pole supports and made a noise. LOL! My coworker is on the Breeze right now on the six day. ViolaSwamp Posted April 22, 2013 #95 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Great review! Brings me back to February of last year when we were on this same ship, same trip! I had a similar bad experience with SAS, on my October 2010 trip, at the end of that journey. They picked us up at the airport and brought us to the hotel just fine, driver was great and we were happy. HOWEVER they left us stranded at the cruise pier when we returned. I called and Steve was RUDE and nasty and accused me of lying, that I didn't have a reservation! I was pi$$ed because I had the printout of the e-mail reservation confirmation in my hand when I called!:mad::mad: ANYWAY we were able to snag a shuttle with another company but I was NOT impressed with SAS losing my reservation and stranding us, and then being rude and accusing me of lying!! I will NEVER use that company again!

wandbrich Posted April 22, 2013 #98 Share Posted April 22, 2013 How much was the tram to paradise point? How many people fit on one tram? Thanks! Loving this report, getting me so excited.:D
lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #99 Share Posted April 22, 2013 We explored the fort for a little more than an hour. I got a San Juan magnet four our collection and DH bought a wooden ship model for his son. We left the fort and waited for the free trolley for more than 20 minutes. At that point we were getting sick of waiting so we hopped in taxi that had just dropped people off. It was $10 for all four of us and he dropped us off right at the port. We got back on the ship and waited a little bit for lunch on the Lido to open. Jenny and I got sandwiches from the deli and DH waited until noon for a Guy's burger. The roundabout at the entrance of the fort. My lunch of choice:
lovestocruise19 Posted April 22, 2013 Author #100 Share Posted April 22, 2013 How much was the tram to paradise point? How many people fit on one tram? Thanks! Loving this report, getting me so excited.:D We bought tickets for the tram through the Carnival website as an excursion. They were $21 a piece. Supposedly they are a buck or two cheaper if you buy them through Carnival. We presented our tickets at the bottom and they gave us an orange wristband. Each tram fits 8 people. A little cramped, but the ride to the top is really short.
